University of Houston

GOOD NEWS!! BUT NOT GREAT NEWS.... I just got a call yesterday afternoon from the admissions department of University of Houston College of Optometry. They asked me to come for an interview on one of the two first weekends of their interview process, so either the 4th of September or the 18th of September. So I am actually going the same weekend I am heading to Illinois to see Grandma Sloan, the 18th. The funny thing about getting an interview is that they don't even have my optomcas application (this is the centralized application process that will be sent out on September 7th to all of my schools). So all they have is my OAT scores and one essay that I sent directly to their school. Anyway so I already bought my flight and my rental car and Kirk's sister is letting me stay at her place in Houston for two nights. So wish me luck.

Beat the Toaster!!!

In Rexburg there is a radio station called 105.5 "The Hawk". Every morning at 6:42am they do a contest called "Beat the Toaster" where you have 30 seconds (how long it takes for the toast to pop up) to answer three questions correctly. Well that is the time that my car pool is always on the way to work so through out the summer I have beat the toaster 3 times and my carpool has won around 11 times. This was one of the prizes that I won. I forgot how good ice tea tastes!!!

I thought that it would fun for me to post the questions that I had to answer to win the prizes:
For this one the questions were...
1) What state is home to the painted desert?
2)What U.S. city is home to the cable car museum?
3) What city in Europe are all 4 "Beatles" from? (I thought Meg would be very proud that I got this one right)

The next prize that I won was 4 tickets to a cage match in Rigby Idaho:
The questions were...

1) What does Miss Piggie and the Mona Lisa have in common?
2) What did Little Bo Peeps sheep lose?
3) What shoe do people put over their front doors for good luck?

The last prize I got this summer were two tickets to see X Games 3D, and two tickets to "Post Grad":
The questions were...

1) Spell Eee-j-i-pp-ed ( I can't spell out the question so this is a country in Africa)
2) Is the last scene in the Wizard of Oz in color?
3) Would you wear a chronometer on your body? And what is it?

I hope you all do well...

It's about time.......

...Krew earns his keep!

Usually when I'm doing the dishes Krew will just stand in front of the dishwasher and pulls out the silverware as I'm putting them in and throwing them on the floor(we don't use our dishwasher to wash our dishes we use it as a drainer). He has recently been pulling himself on the dishwasher door and standing on it so he can get to the dishes on top. Well I started to get sick of that it wasn't safe and it was annoying to have to wash dishes multiple time so I put him in the sink as I washed the dishes and he kept reaching for the sponge to wash the dishes so I let him wash a little bit. You would have thought I gave him the best prize ever, he LOVED it .

Optometry school applications

Last night Brandon and I finished up his application for optometry school. It's really nerve racking, oh it makes me so nervous. I Believe in my husband so much!! I know that he will get into optometry school it's just a matter of where. We have our top two schools, Southern college of Optometry, in Memphis Tennessee and Southern California college of Optometry.A Part of us only wants to apply to only these schools (since it's EXPENSIVE to apply)But we want to make sure we aren't to cocky so we are trying to decide how many other schools we should apply to. I'm just afraid that we are going to be too confident in Brandon's OAT score, since he did so well, that it will bite us in the butt and we wont even get in and we will have to wait a whole other year before could apply again. I can't wait for all of this to be over with and know for sure where we will be next year.
